Postdoc/PhD – Scenario Modeling in Agriculture (MRIO)

Charles University’s Center for Environmental Issues announces the selection process for a postdoctoral position in the Pathways to Environmental Sustainability project focused on scenario modeling in agriculture.

The project aims to identify changes in production technologies and consumption baskets that will reduce the global impacts of all countries below reduced planetary boundaries.

In this role, you will work with global land use scenarios. Therefore, knowledge of the GIS environment is necessary.

Requirements:

  • PhD/MSc. degree in interdisciplinary environmental or sustainability sciences, such as environmental studies, geography, industrial ecology, social ecology, ecological economics, soil systems science, or other relevant field
  • Experience in spatial data analysis and GIS
  • Programming skills (R, Matlab, Python or similar) and ability to work with large programs
    datasets
  • Experience in integrated modeling and/or environmental accounting methods such as environmental footprint, life cycle assessment, multi-regional input-output analysis preferred.
  • Experience with land use scenarios preferred

The position is on a project basis until 2027.

Start date: immediate

Location: Prague, working from home is optional

Candidates should send a one-page cover letter, a detailed CV (including a list of publications) and the names and contacts of references to Hana Skopkova (This email address is being protected from spambots. Javascript must be enabled to view it.).

Scenario modeling in agriculture using a global multi-regional IO framework (focusing on land use scenarios)

Our team at Charles University’s Center for Environmental Issues is looking for new members to work on the Pathways to Environmental Sustainability project. The goal of this project is to identify changes in production technologies and consumption baskets that will reduce the global impacts of all countries below the capacity limits of planetary systems calculated at the national level.

In this role, you will be working with global land use scenarios, so familiarity with a GIS environment is required.

Requirements:

  • PhD/MSc degree in an interdisciplinary field focused on the environment or sustainable development, such as environmental studies, geography, industrial ecology, social ecology, ecological economics, land systems science or other relevant field
  • Experience with spatial data analysis and GIS
  • Programming skills (R, Matlab, Python or similar software) and ability to work with large datasets
  • Experience with integrated modeling and/or environmental accounting methods such as environmental footprint, life cycle assessment, multi-regional input-output analysis is a plus
  • Experience with land use scenarios preferred

This is a research position within the project until 2027.

Start date: immediate

Work location: Prague, working from home is partially possible

Send a one-page motivation letter, a detailed CV (including a list of publications) and the names and contacts of references to Hana Škopková at: This email address is being protected from spambots. Javascript must be enabled to view it..
