In season, hundreds of cyclists ride it every day. For more than a year, it was blocked by heavy equipment working to repair the nearby rail corridor. The road, which was already quite dilapidated, took a lot of work.
According to the spokesperson of the Railway Administration, Dušan Gavenda, the repair was part of an investment in the modernization of the Brno – Blansko railway corridor for several billion crowns. “As with other investments, by default, after the completion of the construction works on the railway, the contractors will also restore parts of the roads that have been affected by the construction, for example by heavy equipment,” said Gavenda.
The end of health concerns? A new cycle route will run between Blansk and Adamov
The new surface has a section of approximately three kilometers from the Adamov raft to the Svitava River. “I go here regularly every day after lunch by trolley. For a long time the railway was being repaired and heavy equipment was passing through, so it was a problem. Now walking around the river is perfect,” Nikola Melicharová, one of Adamov’s mothers, told Deník Rovnost shortly after the repaired path opened.
The new surface was also appreciated by Jiří Kolenáč from Adamov, who on the way goes with his family to the nearby New Castle. “And I run here too. The girl was riding the board behind the repaired road and she appreciated it a lot,” said the man.
